Brake Pads and Rotors
Brake Replacement | Anoka, MN
Need Brake Pads, Brake Rotors or Brake Replacement?
As you may have already experienced, problems associated with brakes should not be ignored. Brake pads and brake rotors are two parts of your car that you shouldn’t take chances with. Common sense says that you don’t want to wait until after an accident to get that necessary brake replacement.
Brake Pads & Brake Rotors work together --
The brake pads and brake rotors are the most important parts of your brake system that stops your vehicle as they work together. When you step on the brake pedal, the brake pads grab onto the brake rotor which then stops your car. At the same time, brake fluid is sent to the calipers, which in turn causes the hydraulic pressure to squeeze the rotor in between the pads. When both of these parts are kept in good condition, your brake system will operate efficiently. However, if one of the parts (either the rotors or pads), become warped or distressed, your entire brake system can be susceptible to damage. If the rotor surface is warped, the brake pads will pulsate inside the caliper as they come in contact with a high spot. The pulsating will cause the wheel to shimmy or vibrate, which can be felt inside the car through the steering wheel. It’s even more important to know that a damaged brake system will cause the anti-lock braking system to not work properly, creating a safety issue due to the driver’s loss of control and a decrease in the stopping ability of your vehicle.
